Every now and then a thought registers in my brain and I’m left standing with my mouth open in absolute awe. Sometimes it’s as silly as, “So that’s why we don’t spit into the wind!”, and other ridiculous sayings that pop into my mind. (Side note: I can’t spit. It’s a mess.)

But it isn’t always the silly thoughts that are poking my brain … this morning it was a true AWE moment.

I am doing a personal bible study right now in the book of Revelation and I am blown away at the twists, turns, nail-biting images and powerful predictions.

Spoiler Alert: In the end, good will be victorious over evil, the wicked will be judged and the righteous will secure their rewards. Woo hoo!!

Our Bible is a complete instruction manual! It’s a map! It tells us how to live, how to receive blessings, how and when to pray. It is a written record of messages, prophecies and visions, praise and much, much more! And the book of Revelation isn’t like any other book in the Bible. It plays out like an epic movie complete with plagues, boils, hail, darkness and makes The Walking Dead seem totally doable.

Revelation, the last book in the Bible, wasn’t written to scare you but it was written to draw you closer to Jesus and to learn more about what is to come upon the earth during the Great Tribulation. He’s given us clear boundaries and He’s also given us clear consequences if those boundaries are crossed.

When I was up all night with my son and unsure of what to do or how to help him, the one thing I was sure of was that I was not alone. God hears us cry out to Him and He is fully aware of our struggles. Our heavenly Father .. our good, good Father … gives every believer the presence of the Holy Spirit whom the Bible calls our Comforter. I know this because I would (and still do) meet with my Savior every morning and let Him speak to me through His Word.

So, back to my bible study Revelation isn’t a book meant to frighten, confuse or even to entertain us, but it was written to prepare us. Even the first verse tells us that there are events that must soon take place.’

Chuck Swindoll says, “It’s as if Christ now stands at the very door of our world, ready to enter at any moment. Our response should not be to expect the return of Christ at a particular time, but to be ready for His return no matter when it occurs.”

He’s coming back.

I know that my destiny is secure. But if you are wondering if you are on the right path or if you are in desperate need of a map to get to the other side then I highly suggest opening your Bible and letting Him speak to you.

Be assured, God’s end time judgment will be unexpected and unwelcome for those who don’t know Him intimately. Have you talked to Him? Have you experienced His awesome presence in your life yet? If you’re waiting until it hits the fan, it may be too late. Let me know how I can pray for you so you can rest in knowing that your destiny is secured in Jesus.
