Ephesians 6:15, “For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.”
Peace. Without peace, it is virtually impossible to live a happy life.
The apostle Paul tells us to put on shoes of peace that help us to stand firm and grounded in the fact that we are filled with the peace of God in our hearts. Doesn’t everyone want that? Imagine not giving in to panic when life starts throwing rocks at our face.
The Roman soldiers didn’t just wear shoes, they wore boots that were tight around the foot and leg. These were not the loose fitting Ugg Boots, these were killer shoes. They were killer because they had 1-3 inch spikes on the front of the shoe! Since these boots came up to the knee, it would protect their legs from being injured and allow them to walk through thorny places.
Wow. I know we need ‘shoes of peace’ because in our lives there are going to be many thorny patches
Ladies, Satan wants to destroy our families and our marriages. And especially Christian marriages! He wants to make us the laughingstock of the world. We, as women, want to be loved, adored and rescued by our Prince Charming, but the only real Prince Charming is Jesus. He is the one that can truly comfort you, encourage you and save you from discouragement and despair.
Your enemy is not your husband. Our children need to see their parents loving and respecting each other. Our actions and the tone we use will set the standard for the kind of person they will grow up to be. We need to let the peace of God rule in our hearts and show in our actions so we will be able to walk through the difficult times we will face ahead.
Your enemy is not your children. They certainly did not ask for their circumstances. They are our precious gifts from God and we are chosen to love, nurture and teach them by example. Our lives can be the strongest sermon our kids ever hear/see! Let’s mirror God’s peace and lead our children down the road of godly living.
It’s not too late to protect your marriage and have a peaceful home! Begin today by praying for your family. Pray together, read Scripture together, make their favorite meal and especially compliment your husband in front of the children! The storms will come, unfortunately, but we can live without fear! You are wearing shoes of peace, remember?
Romans 16:20, “And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.”
Satan’s rightful position is under your feet, completely restrained. As mothers of these precious children, we have to stand firm because our enemy wants us to be filled with fear and intimidation. And when we give in to those fears we are actually being disobedient to God. So stand firm and trust Jesus, even when you don’t understand. Trust that He will watch over our marriage, watch over our children and watch over us.
Remember, we already have our Belt of Truth firmly in place and our body armor that tells us who we are in Christ. So buckle up those shoes, ladies. There will be some thorny patches ahead and I want you to be able to have total peace in every situation.
Philippians 4:7, “…and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
