Psychics! Astrologers! Palm Readers!
“It’s all in fun … I really want to know how my child will turn out. Will he have a normal life? Will he ever drive? Will he live with me forever? What about after I’m gone????”
We all have an innate desire to know what the future holds. However, astrology, for example, is a form of idolatry because it promotes looking to created things instead of God to determine the meaning and direction of a person’s life … looking at the created instead of the Creator.
Deuteronomy 4:19, “And when you look up into the sky and see the sun, moon and stars – all the forces of heaven – don’t be seduced into worshiping them. The Lord your God gave them to all the peoples of the earth.”
Palm reading isn’t specifically mentioned in the Bible, but it does speak of divination (the art of foreseeing or foretelling future events) and there are many scriptures warning believers not to participate in such practices. Practicing these forms of divination opens you up to all kinds of darkness, and all kinds of deception (even though you think it is all in fun).
2 Kings 21:6, “Manasseh also sacrificed his own son in the fire. He practiced sorcery and divination, and he consulted with mediums and psychics. He did much that was evil in the Lord’s sight, arousing His anger.”
Deuteronomy 18:10, “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times or an enchanter or a witch..”
God sent His message for us in the form of scriptures. He wanted us to know everything about Himself, everything about creation and everything about ourselves and our future. Hebrews 4:12 says that the Word is living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword! It speaks directly to our life situations today, as it did two thousand years ago to others. He has laid out a wonderful plan for this world … and for you … but the Bible does no good sitting on the shelf.
God holds you and your sweet child in His hand. Yes, suffering is horrible and I know what it is like to sit and watch your child wrestle with constant … constant! seizures or lay in a clouded fog with medication. It hurts. It hurts to the bone.
Seek Him with all of your heart. You have to be willing to fully surrender your life, lay everything at His feet and set your gaze upon Jesus. HE IS WITH YOU AND HE IS THERE WITH YOUR CHILD.
Healing may not be the answer for your child. It wasn’t with my son, however, He healed my heart. He healed my attitude. I was able to sit and quietly read scripture to my son and see Jesus calm his little body.
He held me for 15 1/2 years while I took care of him.
He held me close when we removed his ventilator in the hospital.
He held me for 37 minutes until his little spirit soared into heaven.
And He is still holding me 16 years later.
You don’t need a palm reader or a horoscope to give you hope. You need to draw all your answers from God’s Word.
